I am a big fan of Jamila Jasper, I really enjoyed this book, the characters were strong and it had a good story line. I really like Lily, she is a funny, strong and a no nonsense woman. Sierra remined me of a woman I knew who also help other people.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Sierra is a counselor for young kids. She has taken particular interest in keeping the kids away from the local gangs. She takes a special interest in a young boy named Malik. While going to her car they are attacked. They are saved by two members of the gang that is interested in Malik. One of them is a man named Oliver or Ollie. Sierra wants to be disgusted by Ollie but her body does not cooperate. The chemistry between them develops quickly. The only issue I have with the book is how quickly Sierra gave in to Ollie. The book wasnt very long so it made their relationship seem very rushed.
When I download this book and looked at the cover of this book I just knew it was going to be good it wasn't is booked with a weak ass joke first of all who do you know going to let you kidnap them and then take you up to the apartment and f*** your brains out second of all the lady in the book she act like she's Hooked on Phonics don't waste your time with this one
I finished the first part of this series and I can say that lack of action is not the problem.From the beginning I felt as if something was missing and it was.The writer does not give you time to know your characters or the way this story is going to go,it's liking coming into the middle of a movie after its started.I can't get a feel for the heroine because I don't know her or the hero.This could be such a good story because all the pieces are there.I'm a little disappointed in this writer because this is not what you usually get.Maybe the next installment will be better.
It was a very good book from the beginning to the end I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good interracial love story with a lot of drama.
I feel as if the author didn't really give us a chance to fall in love with both of the characters. We really didn't know much about the female protagonist or the male protagonist before the story. They didn't have a mental connection it was all physical. How am I going to believe a good girl who works with children to get them off the street would immediately get physical with her kidnapper? I don't care how fine he is. she didn't even have an opportunity to fall in love with his personality. It was all danger equals sex. This isn't real. We've all dated thugs/bad boys before. I can understand if there was a backstory or a reason she falls so blindly. But we got nothing. It just felt rushed. The ending was the most intense part of a story. I still have high hopes for the next one.

They are attacked one day and Oliver and another come to their aid they also are interested in getting Malik in their gang. One look at Oliver and Sierra body has turned on her. 2.5 starsThe whole good girl falling for the bad boy trope pulled me in. Sierra is the anti gang youth counselor. Olllie is a gangster. The boss. Somehow they connect but really shouldn’t. There is enough action to keep you a little interested. I realize that it’s a series.
