This is one of 111 Guides that you must miss.Certainly, one of the most frustrating and shallowest guides I have ever come across. After going through it on the plane I realized that there was no point in letting it disembark. Los Angeles, Angelenos and readers in general deserve better than this collection of dubious taste , mediocre and low brow choices. 111% useless

My husband and I are working our way through these sites. The majority of them are free to visit. I noticed a version of this book for several cities; ours is Los Angeles. We've been here approximately 20+ years and still not visited the majority of the places in the book. A fun date idea is to visit one to two pages per month; don't bemoan not being able to travel when your hometown has so many undiscovered treasures to find together!

Such a great and fresh take on things to do in LA. If you're an LA native or just off the turnip truck... spread your wings and fly to some of the great treasures in the city of angels.

This is a fantastic book! Thoughtfully researched, intelligently presented, each "place" is interesting and presented with thorough background/historical information, pictures, and related information including how to reach by public transportation. Really thoughtfully and beautifully done!

My niece lives in L.A. but has only been there a short time and was really excited to get this book. She said it definitely had lots of places she didn't know about yet and she was super excited to check them out and learn more about the city with this fun book. So, I think it went over well as a gift item. Yea!!

Agggh, I love this book!! I live in LA and am always looking for weird non touristy stuff to do, and that is exactly what this is! I have checked out a bunch of the stuff and hoping to see more. That said, not sure this book would be great for an average person visiting because it is filled with pretty obscure stuff. I love it though!

I visit LA frequently for business. This book took me on a sweet journey through many unique, unexpected and delightful cultural and historical places that I wouldn't have thought to have explored. My local friends weren't aware of many of the places showcased in the book. One of my favorite new haunts is the little chocolate shop in Beverly Hills that Lucille Ball featured in I Love Lucy. This book is a simple and inexpensive guide to the goodness of LA.

Great little book to have if you are an Angelino.

"My first Hebrew Word Book" is one I definitely recommend. The pages are broken up into categories (family, weather, clothing, etc) with both the Hebrew and English word for the item, which makes this book perfect for dual-language children, English-speaking children learning Hebrew, or even Hebrew-speaking children looking English. It would even be great for an adult trying to learn Modern Hebrew. If there's one book I could recommend to teach someone simple Hebrew words for every day objects this would be the one!

I'm a homeschooler and we were studying ancient Israel recently. I bought this book so my early elementary kids could learn something about Hebrew. I really liked the book, but I am only giving it four stars because there is no page with the alphabet on it! I thought the word lists included were great for beginners, and WONDERFUL how it includes the phonetic pronunciation in English along side the English and Hebrew spellings. But no alphabet page? It would have been perfect if only it had!

This is an AMAZING BOOK! It is easy to read I love that it is shown in English, Hebrew and how to say it in Hebrew. It is easy for the kids to read as well as adults. it is full of words that are every use words for kids and I love that about it. I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn Hebrew or to anyone trying to teach a child

This book has a nice collection of words categorized by places you would use them. It also includes colors and numbers. The words are in Hebrew lettering, transliteration, and English.The book is hard cover and has nice photos.

I just wanted to get a simple introduction to the Hebrew language. This book does this with a format of words and pictures. The vocabulary is extensive and grouped by subjects. The words are clearly written in Hebrew and in English. It is a great first Hebrew book for children or adults.

Im learning hebrew right now. and i love the pictures and the fact that it has the vowels in the hebrew word.

this is just a black and white book with obscure hand drawn maps you can find most of the info online

Great book with awesome descriptions and directions.

I have used Gem Trails for years. Great book

Son can't wait to go exploring and knowing what to expect when he gets there.

Another successful gift for a teen age grandson - This with 'Rockhounding Utah" were well received. His mother said, with these books, he had planned the "family outings" for well into the future.

Wonderful sites to collect rocks, gems, minerals, fossils, etc. Must have if you are planning to FIND of the aforementioned items. Also, check local rock shops, usually very helpful.

I have not been to any of the sites mentioned in this book. I however have some others that he has written and found that the use of GPS coordinance would be of much better value. I have found that many of the directions to sites and milages are very poor. Some of the areas are now closed by various states to mineral collection. I only get his material for lack of anything better.

Let me start by saying that if you already know a bit about climate change, and follow the recent news, this book is not really for you. This is more for the non-scientist that wants to know more, or the skeptic that is willing to open his mind.The book covers all of the known research and information is a clear and concise manner. It is easily readable, and covers everything from why the earth is warming to what possible solutions exist that are practical. It also debunks the deniers and the information they use to try to confuse the issue. If you have doubts about climate science or global warming, this is an excellent book to read.I highly recommend his book for those who are on the fence or who are willing to open their minds to new information. It might even be good for the member of the House of Representatives I heard recently say that he didn't believe climate science because they couldn't explain away past warming spells. Maybe I should send him this book!

Great to hear the considered wisdom of one of the world's leading climate scientists, Michael Mann who has faced intimidation and death threats for speaking the truth. This shows how climate science threatens the very basis of our lives. Mann writes really well for both scientists and the public.I was looking forward to the cartoons in this book, but there weren't as many as I had hoped, and although they were poignant they were still a little disappointing.

The authors did an excellent job of documenting climate change and the many faces of climate denial. They really put the issue into perspective: It is a matter of survival of our planet, not a partisan debate. They also discuss the impact of the Trump administration to undermine climate change policies. If we could get science to prevail and join the rest of the world, we would have some chance of saving our way of life. I am 79 so will not impact me, but my grandkids. Wow

I personally really liked this book. The text is clear and concise and the cartoons are humorous. My only real complaint is that it shows a bit too much political biases and I was looking for a book to give to my conservative friend who does not believe the science of climate change has been decided. With the current political climate (if you'll forgive the pun) it seems impossible to speak on climate change without a political bias and this book comes close. But I think some comments could have been omitted, such as praising Obama's use of executive action in general. But with that in mind, Mann also does a good job of pointing out that this was not always a partisan issue and gives many examples of Republicans who still agree with that.I definitely recommend this book to anyone curious about climate change and the history of its policy or lack thereof.

Sadly dated as it was published before Trump was elected. But the basics of climate crisis and action required are sound. Depressing to see how politics is not answering the call but refreshing to see that business, largely, is.

I have read about 15 books on climate change and this book covered all aspects very well. Everyone should read this book to understand what is happening and how to fix it.

Michael Mann knows his subject and how to make the research easy to grasp for everyone. The authors show us what is happening with climate change, how climate change deniers respond, and the ways you can respond to the deniers. One of the best books I have read on the climate debate.

Informative and compelling. Following the money is so important to see influence we wouldn't otherwise see. I so appreciate scientists like Michael Mann who speak out and go to great lengths to convey the distilled learnings from data so we may all take action and make better decisions, because there is no planet B.
