Barbara’s book for me, as a woman, is absolutely essential reading for a Jehovah’s Witness. She gives her account of working at Bethel and the discovery of child abuse cover ups in a clear, honest manner. I was heartbroken to learn that her fierceness for truth has cost her her family, but her work has raised awareness of this dangerous cult. It’s an unfair price to pay, and just one more piece of evidence that the practice of protecting abusers and victimizing victims are only the most well known of this organization’s disgusting tactics.My only wish is that the book were longer and told more of her story. I am so thankful to her for putting the pieces together for me so that I can walk away from this destructive group with a clean conscience. If only I could walk away from my memories of abuse as easily.
Barbara tells us what is behind the curtain of silence at the Watchtower. Her unique position as a former insider at the Watchtower headquarters confirms what we have been hearing in the news regarding the scandal of child sexual abuse at Jehovah's Witnesses. She documents everything and is not afraid to speak out in defense of abuse victims. This has resulted in she and her husband being shunned by former friends and family. Barbara has touch the lives so many survivors and victims of child sexual abuse for the positive. Thank you Barbara Anderson for stepping up and telling the truth about Watchtower's Scandal of Child Sexual Abuse. As you so aptly observe only those with a true love of truth will appreciate knowing of Watchtower's abuses and wake up.
I couldn't put this book down until I finished reading it. Barbara Anderson tells what it is like to be on the inside of the Main Headquarters of the Watchtower. Very well written.
Barbara Anderson – Uncensored is a very easy read with many of the twists and turns of a compelling spy or mystery story. I plan to use it to raise awareness of California Legislators and staff members about “undue influence†in 2018. along with "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steven Hassan.Information on pages 29, 38, 42-44, 52-63, and pages 77-80 contain nuggets of information that can be used to show non-JWs how intelligent individuals like Barbara and other JW’s are easily manipulated to not report alleged or suspected child sexual abuse to law enforcement by pious leaders, who are actually “wolves in sheep’s clothingâ€.
There's a lot of books out there on the pedophilia problem in the Watchtower organization but this one is by far one of the best. The references and proofs are in there and backed up with additional information on her website which proofs are cited throughout. Her own disappointments and experience as a whistle blower to her beloved religion came through in the reading and I can only imagine the courage that it took for her and her husband to have had in exposing this evil; especially since this organization is such a powerful one. A must read and highly recommended.
I read this and wept, screamed, and was so thankful for all the information for victims. What a real gift from God Barbara Anderson is for victims when all their very own JW family members, and fake "friends" have deserted them! Let me say that the shunning still continues among JW's when people have reported it in the past. The elders do not let ago of their misogynistic bigoted geriatric ways...ever, unless there is a younger progressive and educated body of elders. So far, I have not found one like that. So in the meantime I refuse to subject myself, my children, and grandchild to this mental judo/abuse.
A brief story of what this warrior has gone through to bring to light the hidden abuses with the Watchtower Society. A great read and resource!
Barbara Anderson is certainly NEVER boring! This book is very conversational as well as informative. She is helping so many Watchtower victims recover.
